MS Word Text Comments

The New Comment tool is found on the Review Tab.  This feature is available in Word X for Mac under the Insert menu.

The New Comment tool allows you to add text comments to a document, e.g. to provide a dictionary definition, summarize a paragraph in your own words, or make note of a question.

To add a New Comment, select the text you would like to comment on.  Add a comment by clicking "New Comment" on the Review Tab.  Then type in the comment box.  Teachers could use comments to pose guided reading questions or provide definitions for key vocabulary.  Students could use comments for note-taking or answering questions.  You can also drag clipart into the comment window.

You can show these comments inline rather than as balloons as explained in this video.

You can show or hide comments by checking or unchecking the box beside "comments" under "Show Markup" on the Review Tab.
