MS Word Voice Comments

Page history last edited by Mallory Burton 13 years, 9 months ago

After installation, the Voice Comment icon (looks like a tiny cassette) is found on the main toolbar above the ribbons.  Paul Hamilton has created downloadable instructions for installing the Voice Comment option.  If there is a Voice Comment option for Word X on the Mac, please add the information here.

The Voice Comment can be used to add voice comments to a page.  A teacher might use voice comments to record instructions, pronunciations, definitions, prompts to use reading strategies or other supports.  A student might use voice comments to add notes, questions, or to answer test questions.

Click on the Voice Comment icon to record a Voice Comment that will appear as a little speaker icon on the page.  You can reposition the speaker icon by right-clicking the icon and selecting Format from the Context Menu; go to the Layout Tab and click Tight and you will be able to move the icon.  You can also re-size the icon by dragging its corner.

Here's a little video I made to show how a student might use the free app Word Talk to read a test question and the Voice Comment feature to answer the test question.
